In this first phase of Beit Ummar project, the goal is to address the outdated facilities of Beit Ummar Park. The park had suffered from neglect, and abandonment over the years which caused the community shortage of adequate spaces for recreation. Efforts in this phase were concentrated on preparing the park for future developments while ensuring that the basic infrastructure was stable and functional. This included clearing away old and damaged areas, repairing pathways, and restoring essential features like lighting and seating. Also increasing the green land scape my adding different types of plants from roses, flowers, colorful plants and trees which were added in a way that combination the old park by using its rocks and small stones with the modern art techniques to increase the appealing of the park for the community members. By focusing on these initial improvements, the project set a solid foundation for a larger transformation of the park which will ensure its appealing and usability for the families and the community members.

The park’s facilities have significantly fallen into poor condition over the years, which has caused so many problems that impact the park. The pathways were cracked and uneven which case problems with navigation and mobility for the families and those who tried to walk in it. The benches were broken resulting in not finding good places for resting and enjoying the surrounding area. The lighting problems cause a particularly unencouraging environment, especially at night. The green landscapes with their colors and beauty weren’t in good shape which made it an uninviting place for the gathering and an outing. These problems made the park uninviting for families and community members as it discourages them from visiting. In addition, there were no recreational activities available like playgrounds or sports facilities, which reduced the park’s appeal as a gathering place for different community members. As a result, the park loses its potential as a place for leisure and social interaction which case many to seek alternative for it. All these problems highlighted the important need for the revitalization to restore the park.

The solution at this stage was to carry out essential repairs and prepare the space for more significant upgrades. The project team worked with local volunteers to clean up the park, improve the pathways, replace old benches and install new lighting systems to make the park more usable and safer. Also adding more colorful plants and trees makes it more inviting and cheerful. This phase created a welcoming environment, making the park accessible and usable for the people while setting the stage for further construction. The involvement of local volunteers not only provides a sense of community ownership but also strengthened bonds among community members, making the revitalization process a collective effort. As a result, the park became a more inviting space, ready to support a variety of recreational activities and community gatherings.

Increasing the green landscape: The green areas in the park were increased by adding more different colorful plantes and flowers while using the rocks and stone from the old park in artistic way show the history of the place in a modern way. Also, more trees were added to provide shades and places for the community members who love nature and enjoy it.

In the end of this phase, the park was successfully restored to a functional state, making it ready for the next stages of development. Families and individuals began using the park once more for casual walks, picnics and gatherings. The renovations made to pathways, benches, and lighting made the park a welcoming place for interaction and outdoor activities. Also, the additional plants from flowers, roses, to the trees make it a good place for community members who love nature and love enjoying it. With the new changes in the park, it has become a good place for the connected with others, enjoy the surroundings and participate in recreational activities. The park became a great place to make memories and a lot of the community members use it as a main place to take pictures on many occasions from wedding , celebrate the pregnancy to other happy occasions.
