The third phase of Beit Ummer project focused on the construction of a swimming pool. This addition has been a long-anticipated feature that would greatly enhance the park’s recreational contributions. The lake of the swimming pool in the area made the community members have to travel to other areas in order to do any activities related to water and also limited it. By building a modern swimming pool the community members will benefit in many aspects. They will have easy access to the water, which will create a safe and clean environment for them. It will enhance the quality and leisure time and encourage the community on gatherings and other related activities. With the introduction of classes for water safety skills it will help in reducing the risk of drowning and help in increasing the safety around the water. Also, the pool addition to the park makes it a good opportunity for young girls and adult female to participate easy in the swimming learning courses and activities that were hard for them to enter before. It will also help in making the community gain important skills and experience which will enhance the community lifestyle and system. This addition to the park helps greatly in reducing the gap in the recreational places and will enhance the community members’ health and safety by providing opportunities for learning, leisure and social gathering. Also, the swimming pool will increase the camping programs which will benefit the community in financially when it being used by parties from outside the city and morally and educationally promoting skills from the different camps programs that will be held.

Before the development of the swimming pool the community members were having problems with access to public swimming facilities. Beit Ummar is a small village, so it was difficult for its community to participate in water related activity and it was especially hard for the females form young girls to adult ones to practice swimming and other activity. This limitation led to restraining the opportunities for water related activities like swimming exercises, and water safety skills also limited the quality time activities between the community members. Also, the difficulty of traveling to other distant areas to use the swimming pools and do its related activity. It affects the community by decreasing the knowledge about water safety and other skills which increases the risk of accidents, especially for the children. The girls and adult female were having trouble in finding a place to learn swimming and participate in the other water related activities. So, the addition of the swimming pool was to create solutions to these problems by providing a place for recreation and also easy access for educational programs for skills related to water. This addition not only improves leisure but also helps in improving the overall well-being of the community members.

The solution to these problems was to design and construct a multi-purpose swimming pool that would serve different groups within the community. The pool was designed to include different features like a shallow area for beginners and children which will ensure a safe and good environment for learning. A deeper section for more experienced swimmers which will help them develop their skills and improve them. Also, facilities that would allow for community events such as water aerobics or swimming competitions will help in engagement between the community members and participation. Girls also will have the opportunity to learn and participate in all the activities that will be done in the swimming pool. Safety was an important core consideration in the design, with lifeguard stations, barriers, and clear markings to separate the different areas of the pool. This ensures that the facility has all the needs of the community while prioritizing the safety and well-being of all users.

1. Site Excavation and Groundwork Preparation: preparing the site was the first step in constructing the swimming pool. This needs significant groundwork to ensure the area was level and stable. Heavy excavation machinery was used to dig the pool foundation to precise specifications, ensuring that the soil was reinforced to prevent future issues like shifting or water seepage. Proper planning ensured that the pool structure would be stable and durable, capable of withstanding long-term use.
2. Structural Development: The structure of the pool was carefully built using high-quality, water-resistant materials designed to prevent leakage and withstand the wear and tear of daily use. Concrete was poured into carefully shaped molds to create the pool’s contours, including steps and dividing lines between the shallow and deep areas. Once the concrete cured, it was smoothed and treated with waterproof coating to ensure durability and watertightness.
3. Safety Features Installation: Safety is a paramount concern in any public swimming facility. This phase included the installation of several safety elements; Fencing and Controlled Access: Secure fencing that was installed around the perimeter of the pool which prevents unauthorized entry, particularly when the pool is not in use. Entry points were equipped with controlled access gates to ensure that only authorized personnel and lifeguards could grant access. Designated Areas for Different Skill Levels: The pool was divided into zones, with a shallow end marked clearly for children and beginners, while the deeper section was reserved for more experienced swimmers. These zones were color-coded and equipped with clear signage to help visitors easily navigate the pool area. Lifeguard Stations: Multiple lifeguard towers were strategically placed around the pool to provide complete visibility and quick access in case of emergencies. Lifeguard training was prioritized to ensure a safe, well-monitored environment. Emergency Equipment: Floatation devices, life rings, and rescue poles were placed at intervals around the pool. First-aid stations were established nearby to handle any injuries or incidents swiftly.
4. Water Filtration and Maintenance System: A water filtration system was installed to ensure the pool's water remained clean and safe for use. This system continuously filters out debris and bacteria, maintaining hygienic conditions without the need for excessive chemicals. Regular maintenance schedules were established to monitor pH levels, water clarity, and overall cleanliness, ensuring the pool remains a healthy environment for all users.
5. Community Swimming Programs: Following the completion of the pool construction, the community was invited to participate in organized swimming programs. These programs included Swimming Lessons: Targeting both children and adults, swimming lessons were designed to improve water safety awareness and swimming proficiency across the community. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels were offered to ensure inclusivity. Water Aerobics and Fitness Classes: For adults, especially the elderly or those seeking low-impact exercise, water aerobics and fitness classes were introduced. These sessions became popular for their health benefits and social engagement. Community Events and Competitions: The pool was also intended to serve as a venue for community events such as swimming races, family fun days, and seasonal celebrations. Hosting competitions and recreational activities helped strengthen community bonds.

The swimming pool easily became one of the most popular attractions in Beit Ummar Park. It provides a recreational and education place which is both safe and fun environment for the families and different community members. All community members benefited from the swimming pool in different ways. For example, they benefited from the swimming lessons or water related fitness programs or as a place for quality time and gathering. Also, the young girls and the adult one had a place to easily learn and participate while having fun and enjoying their time. The place creates an environment of safety and wellness within the community. By the time, the swimming pool become a vibrant place for gathering and community members engagement. Its development enhanced the appeal of the park and attracted visitors from all areas which make as a center for leisure and interaction.

The pool significantly transformed social dynamics within the community, providing a space where people of all ages could come together. Families spent quality time at the pool while children learned to swim in a safe and clean environment help in enhance their skills and health. Older adults took part in fitness programs, bromating their health and lifestyle. The introduction of swimming lessons helped improve the water safety knowledge of the community which reduces the risk of accidents. The pool also provided a new venue for social events, creating a sense of community pride and unity which led to more involvement in the community.

The economic impact of the swimming pool was significant. As it attracted a higher number of visitors to the park, many of these visitors utilized nearby facilities such as snack vendors, cafes, and rental services which boosted the local businesses. The pool also created employment opportunities, with lifeguards, instructors, and maintenance staff being hired to manage its operations. In addition, the potential for hosting large-scale events or competitions brought in additional revenue from registration fees, sponsorships, and local tourism. Also helps in increasing the camp’s activities and making it more diverse. The swimming pool became the main place to use in summer camp every year ether from the local members or from the others who rant it to use. other nearby regions that use the swimming pool like Dar Kholil, Dar Awadh, Al Aroub, Surif, Hebron and other areas. In all the swimming pools help to improve water safety awareness while promoting healthy, active lifestyles.

The construction of the swimming pool marked a fundamental moment in the Beit Ummar Park development project. By providing a safe, modern facility for aquatic activities, the project addressed a critical need within the community. The pool not only improved recreational options but also enhanced the community’s physical health and social interactions. Its economic contributions through job creation and increased park visitation further solidified its value.
